SOMEONE SHOULD WAKE THE PRESIDENT! Grim news filtered in over the weekend about the fall of several towns in Adamawa...Michika, Gulak etc. Worse to hear is that Mubi is badly threatened, so bad that the university had to be shut. This is grim. Very bad. I have no doubt about the competence or ability of the military to defend Nigerias territorial integrity but there are grave doubts about the will of the politicians who have constitutional authority over the military to move fast enough to end these killings. For crying out loud, does anyone have to tell this President that the situation has clearly gotten out of hand? Does he need a spiritualist to divine that the country he presides over is CLEARLY FALLING APART under his watch? Is he going to allow himself become Commander-in-Chief of nothing? President Goodluck Jonathan must do something! This is no more a mere insurgency but an invasion of the country and must be treated as such. President Jonathan must declare a total and complete state of emergency in Borno and Adamawa, call for a general mass mobilization of citizens into the Army, close the North-Eastern borders, implement an orderly evacuation of civilians from war-prone areas, break our foreign reserves to urgently acquire hi-tech weaponry.... And motivate the military to decimate the extremist bastards! And the National Assembly must also wake up from their selfish egunje-induced lethargy and start doing the oversight for which they were voted. And they must also start piling constitutional pressure on the President to do his sworn duty to defend the country or get impeached. Yes, get impeached! This invasion has gotten beyond normal and if VERY tough measures are not taken we may find Abuja itself being threatened. And let me ask o! Abeg, where is the much-hyped Victims Support Fund (VSF) launched by the President with fanfare? Shouldnt the billions realised from the launching be deployed towards taking care of the thousands of displaced people fleeing the Boko Haram invasion? Theres a huge sense of urgency that our politicians are missing and thats a shame. I make these submissions with the greatest sense of responsibility and love of my country. Anyone who knows President Jonathan should wake him up!
