We are concerned that political developments are overshadowing a growing humanitarian crisis, specifically that people living outside of regime control are dying not only from continued aggression but from lack of food and medicines. International organizations are unable to work in these areas and so, for example, the nearly 2 million people living in the outskirts of Damascus are without supplies. As a result people are forced to leave and become refugees in other countries. It is imperative that the international community establish safe passage for medicine, food and basic supplies. We want the United Nations to take action.
