¥¥¥ SONIDOS DEL PERÚ ¥¥¥ AFRO-PERU! 2 films hoy, on the afro-peruvian culture nowadays, in two pueblos from the coast Chincha, south of Lima, is famous for the Ballumbrosio family, who has been putting for some generations the villge and its afro-descendent tradition on the map. Heres a little film with some of the family nowadays. Zaña, in northern Peru, is not as famous but holds a very strong tradition unique to its place, represented by the decimas of Hildebrando Briones, a unique form of poetry. Short portrait of their music and their afro-museum. ¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥ 30¥ LOS RITMOS DE CHINCHA https://vimeo/91162025 https://petitesplanetes.bandcamp/…/sonidos-del-per-los-… •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• The afro-peruvian culture owes a lot to the Ballumbrosio family. For generations, their music has been a way to put the little village of Chincha on the map, and talk about this culture almost unknown outside of the country, where clichés are strong for the land of the Macchu Picchu. By stepping on stage though, some questions raise to mind, especially if you are almost the unique keeper of the flame. How do you keep your traditions? How much will you represent yourself for the outsiders? And how much you will fit in the cliché the other is waiting for? A little film talking about conditions of the past and how the cycle of life is actually, the same over and over again. ¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥ 26¥ ZAÑA ZAÑA https://vimeo/92879204 https://petitesplanetes.bandcamp/…/sonidos-del-per-los-… •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Afro-peruvian culture is finally having its momentum. In a country famed for an inca temple in the mountains, the presence of african descendants is not easy to place on the map. There are two historical places of afro-peruvian cultures in Perú - Chincha, south of Lima, home of the celebrated Ballumbrosio family, and Zaña, to the north. In Zaña, the grand-father of that culture is the maestro Hildebrando - and its use of decima, a specific type of poetry. Short film on the ancient and new sounds emanating from the little village. ¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥ ¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥ WATCH the entire SONIDOS DEL PERÚ collection vimeo/album/3050162 LISTEN petitesplanetes.bandcamp/ a 33 films and albums collection made by Vincent Moon all around the country, researching on local music from Iquitos to Arequipa, from Pucallpa to Chiclayo, from Huancayo to Lima and more.
