The line segment volume scale is depicted on this portable stereo’s LCD. Pressing or holding a Volume Control will decrease or increase the volume rapidly as needed. Press either Volume Control one key press at a time and the volume will be adjusted up or down one incremental segment at a time. This portable stereo can be operated by other Sony boombox remote controls displaying the “R” symbol with reduced functionality. The Digital AM Band Tuner receives the following station frequencies in the New York City Metropolitan Area in manual or preset tuning modes: 570, 620, 660, 710, 770, 820, 880, 930, 970, 1010, 1050, 1130, 1190, 1280, 1330, 1380, 1430, 1480, 1560, 1600, 1660 KHz. Receivable FM/AM stations will vary by your geographic location, destination or radio market. The Sony XPLOD CFD-G700CP boombox features an outstanding digital tuner. The digital tuner provides the most accurate reception possible. The digital tuner locks on to station frequencies with precision while simultaneously reducing unwanted noise anomalies that often plague lesser performing portable stereos. A stereo broadcast can be changed to mono reception if the FM music program is received with static by pressing the Mode button on the remote commander or the main unit. This XPLOD CFD-G700CP boombox includes a telescopic FM Band swivel whip antenna and ferrite bar AM Band antenna for boosted reception. Moving a Sony XPLOD CFD-G700CP boombox closer to a window dramatically improves FM/AM reception. Medium Wave coverage can be expanded upon indoors with an external Omni-directional passive antenna. The cassette deck’s combination playback/record head, erase head, capstan and pinch rollers should be cleaned after approximately every 10 hours of use with a wet or dry head cleaning tape. A Maxell 191018 Wet Audio Tape Head Cleaner can be acquired for this maintenance task. The tape heads should be demagnetized periodically with a tape head demagnetizer. The tape head demagnetizer preserves optimum cassette operations and may be needed after approximately every 30 hours of cassette playback.
