SONYAS JOURNEY.........sorry I have waited this long to post but we have a lot to ponder and absorb......There are some lymph nodes that lit up in Sonyas groin area and they are not sure if they are cancer or not....Dr. Idress, at first, said he would just watch them and proceed with surgery...but after talking to some of the Dr.s at Clinic he decided to biopsy them.,,,,,,He told us that this is Sonyas window of opportunity to have surgery and that if she doesnt do it now there is no turning back because after some time chemo will not respond to the cancer and she can never ever have any more radiation so basically no choice or decision to make. This will be major, major surgery .....10 to 12 hours surgery with about 5 teams of Doctors....at least 2 weeks in hospital and a hard recovery because there are many organs involved....risks are about 1 - 2% of not making it through surgery {as with any surgery}....risks are higher for complications after surgery which is scary but he thinks with this surgery Sonya will have many years to enjoy PJ and everyone and everything else......no surgery looks very grim. While we were there today she had lab work and consultation with Gyn. Has appointment on 16th for plastic surgeon, waiting for appointment dates for biopsy and colonoscopy. So that is where it stands right now.......guess the answer will be in lymph nodes report. Please keep sending up your prayers in Sonyas behalf and all the Doctors and medical team who will be deciding her next chapter in this journey!! Thank you all from the bottom of all our hearts....
