SORRY, YOUR OPINION DOESNT ALWAYS MATTER With all do respect....Im not sure why people whove never trained with us feel the need to state their opinions. I find it hard to believe that anything taught would be particularly effective. - from this article on CrossFit Defense: sbgi-pdx/bjj-crossfit-defense/ Really? Im baffled by a statement like that especially since the author starts the article by writing: Let me preface this article by stating that I have never taken the Crossfit Defense class. This is not a review of the services they provide. Because we get a lot of this online Ive decided to spend a few minutes today to help the online community by sharing some simple rules they can use to help create relevant opinions (on any subject). #1 If youre asked about something that youve never ever ever experienced, this is your only answer: I dont know, Ive never experienced it. #2 When pressed to comment on something you have no direct experience or connection to always use answer #1. #3 If the subject is of interest and importance to you, or you know youre going to be asked about it again, then use your computer, tablet or SmartPhone to get even smarter and Google authentic information about the product or service. Its simple to do, lets use CrossFit Defense as an example: A simple google search for CrossFit Defense would reveal About 711,000 results (0.38 seconds) and a couple clicks later . Inside the link for CrossFit Defense theyd have learned this: The program was developed by Tony Blauer (thats me :-) ). They might have reviewed my bio (tonyblauer/4105/07_04_tonyblauer.asp) where they would have learned that Ive been teaching for 35+years and that my students are from every walk of life, but most importantly the majority are professional warriors: cops and military. Additionally they would also learn that for the past 20+ years my team has developed, refined and taught a very effective 2-day train-the-trainer course for professional self-defense and martial arts trainers (pdrteam) and that the CrossFit Defense program took another two years to develop. (crossfitdefense) Having some faith in humanity, Im hopeful this background information would inspire some pause and then consideration that perhaps there may be some substance to the program. Perhaps. But I get that people are skeptics and maybe they need more information to form an educated opinion. Not a problem here are two more suggestions: #4 Solicit opinions of people whove [actually] used the product or service. #5 Need more info? Contact the company and ask un-biased questions. The rules 1-5 apply to anything and I was just using CrossFit Defense as an example of course. Awhile back I was compelled to write this response to the CrossFit Defense vs MMA/BJJ or any martial art debate. PLEASE read this with an open mind: board.crossfit/showthread.php?t=86695 Heres another video response: https://facebook/crossfit/posts/10152010218372676 If youre on Instagram check this out: instagram/p/uOx9u_y50I/ If this is confusing then watch Master Wong reply to What he thinks of Krav Maga at 1:42 of this video https://youtube/watch?v=xsj2LZkjdPY Have a great day and stay safe Coach B
