SOUTH KOREA TO RECRUIT MORE SKILLED AND PROFESSIONALS WORKERS FROM SRI LANKA AT PRESENT WORKING IN FISHERIES MANUFACTURING AND CONSTRUCTION SECTORS South Korea is to recruit more Sri Lankans for the skilled and professional categories. The Chairman of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment Amal Senadhilankara said that South Korea has positively responded to a request made by Sri Lanka to provide more job opportunities in the skill categories. At present Sri Lankans work in South Korea in the Fisheries, manufacturing and construction sectors. They are chosen following a Korean language proficiency test and brief training. Employment of Sri Lankan workers in South Korea started under an initiative mooted by president Mahinda Rajapakse during his tenure as the minister of labour in 1990s.
