SOUTHEAST ARKS COMMUNITY NEWS FOR TUE, OCT 15, 2013 Today, Tuesday, October 15th is the deadline to pay personal property taxes in Arkansas without incurring a penalty on your personal property tax bill. The Monticello School District Administration will present the annual report to the public this evening at 7pm in the Monticello Middle School Auditorium and the public is invited. The SEARK Education Service Cooperative located at 1022 Scogin Drive in Monticello will have a board meeting Wednesday, Oct 16th at 10am at its office complex in the CIV 1 Conference Room. The Greater Shady Grove AME Church located on 7th Street in Wilmar will have revival services Wednesday, Oct 16th and Thursday, Oct 17th at 7pm. The guest speaker will be Rev Roosevelt Lindsey of California. Pastor Alonzo Redic and the Greater Shady Grove church family invites everyone. The Monticello Baptist Temple located at 1693 Hwy 425 South in Monticello will have a fish fry Friday, Oct 18th from 5 to 7pm. Its eat in or carry out at $10 per plate and the proceeds go to missions. For more information call 367-1054. There will be a county-wide diaper shower Saturday, October 19th from 10am to 2pm at the First Assembly of God Churchs Building 2 located on Hwy 425 North in Monticello, to benefit the HopePlace ministry. There will be a drawing for a door prize every hour. You do not have to be present to win. The 3rd annual Green With Envy Chicken Cook-off will be held at UAM Saturday, Oct 19th as the UAM Boll Weevils take on Lindenwood-Belleville at 3pm and the public will be able to sample the food for a fee. To register a team for the cook-off or for more information call the Monticello-Drew County Chamber of Commerce at 367-6741. Christ Church will have a gospel singing, Saturday, October 19th at 6pm with the Robin Hood Family Band and other local talent. Refreshments will be served after the singing and everyone is invited. The gospel group, the Telestials of Nashville, Tennessee will be singing at the Cominto Baptist Church Saturday, Oct 19th at 7pm and everyone is invited. The First Missionary Baptist Church located at 546 North Bailey in Monticello will have its annual Family & Friends Octoberfest Day Sunday, Oct 20th at 3pm. Pastor Henry F. Richardson and the First Missionary Baptist Church Family invites everyone to attend. The UAM Womens Softball Team is hosting a Pink Out in support of breast cancer Sunday, Oct 20th in a scrimmage double header with East Texas with the first game at 1pm at UAM. The Blossoms, in partnership with the UAM Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, will be accepting donations in conjunction with October’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with all proceeds benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The Cotton Blossums are encouraging all fans to wear pink to these games. The Drew Central Cross Country Team is selling tickets for whole cooked Boston Butts for $25 each with the deadline to order being Wednesday, Oct 18th. The meat will be cooked Oct 26th and can be picked up at Megans Cafe in Monticello on the 26th. To place an order call 370-3621. Monticello Safe Prom is selling raffle tickets for a 2013 Polaris 400 Sportsmen 4-wheeler. Tickets are $100 each with only 200 being sold and the deadline for tickets is Nov 7th or until all are sold. Tickets can be purchased at Monticellos home football games or by calling 723-5931.
