SPELLING MATTERS: Ti Rllaey Deos, I Pismore… Some of you have seen the memes on Facebook or received the emails in your inbox claiming that Cambridge University research shows that as long as the first and last letters in a word are positioned correctly, the order of the internal letters does not interfere with the reader’s ability to read the word. Linguists would beg to differ, especially since we’ve spent our careers arguing that spelling DOES matter.
