SPIRIT MEAT BY REV. AREOGUN MONDAY 2ND DECEMBER, 2013 THE POWER OF RELATIONSHIPS JUDGES 16:1-4; GENESIS 34:1-2 God brings relationships to us on our way to destiny in order to help, train, correct or even rebuke us in a bid to make us better. One of the ways by which the devil hinders and limits people in their destiny is by bringing wrong relationships into their lives. It is your responsibility to determine the relationships you allow in your life and the ones you refuse. The quality of the relationships behind you will determine your outcome in the battle of life. You will need both spiritual and physical relationships. 1. Spiritual relationships: Your relationship with God should be the root that sustains your existence as a Christian. It should be vibrant, progressive, consistent and growing continuously. God controls the spiritual in our favour, and He is committed to us because we are His children. 2. Physical relationships: God brings critical relationships into our lives to help us achieve His purpose for us. You must recognize and cherish those relationships. If you recognize the relationships God brings into your life and disallow negative relationships that the devil brings, you won’t find it difficult to accomplish God’s purpose over your life. The devil brings down most people by the wrong relationships he introduced into their lives. The enemy was able to cut off the hair of Samson because of his relationship with Delilah. Dinah was defiled because of her association with the people of a strange land. Moses was prepared and processed to be the leader of Israel through his relationship with Jethro. The relationships in your life cannot be neutral. They will have either a positive or negative influence on your life and destiny. Here are two important areas of attention if wrong relationships will not prevail over your destiny: 1. Who is advising you? Where are you receiving counsel from? Jethro was the father figure in the life of Moses and he advised Moses. Do you have a father figure in your life? Moses could have worn himself out before his destiny manifested, but Jethro advised him and he took the advice. If you have one, do you accept advice from him? Samson did not accept counsel and he ended less than God planned for him. 2. What kind of people do you visit? Dinah forfeited the glory of being the only daughter of the heir of Abraham and Isaac. Think about your friends and those you love to visit. Are they “heirs of the promise” or “of the land?” Don’t end up like Dinah or Samson, cut off negative relationships today. Prayer: Lord, expose every wrong relationship I’m involved in. I receive the wisdom to dissociate from them; lead me into right relationships that will help me to fulfil my destiny in Jesus’ name, amen.
