SPIRIT OF PRAISE The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight to life. Reverence for the Lord is pure, lasting forever. The laws of the Lord are true, each one is fair. They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey; even honey dripping from the comb. They are a warning to those who hear them; there is great reward for those who obey them. Psalm 19:7-11 How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults. Keep me from deliberate sin! Don’t let them control me. Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin. May the words of my mouth ant the thoughts in my heart be pleasing to you. O Lord, my rock and redeemer. Psalm 19:12-14. When we think about the law and God’s instructions we sometimes feel that they are keeping us from having fun. But in these Psalms we see the opposite. God’s laws; revive us, make us wise, bring joy to our hearts, give insight, warn us and reward us. God’s laws are guidelines and light our path rather than chain us down. They are set down as a guide. WISDOM SPEAKS People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy. Blessed are those who fear to do wrong, but the stubborn are headed for serious trouble. A wicked ruler is as dangerous to the poor as a roaring lion or attacking bear. Proverbs 28:13-15. SPIRIT OF GODS’ VICTORY A lot of time we are riddled with guilt, worried that we might have committed a sin unknowingly, something we shouldn’t have done, not behaving properly, neglecting something that we shouldn’t have. We feel guilt and afraid of bringing this burden to Him. But we should not be crippled by our missteps and errors, because God fully and completely forgives; even those sins we do unknowingly. Just remember, to start each day determined that God’s love will guide you in what you say or do. TAKE TIME TO PRAY: Withdraw to a quiet place to pray. Gather your strength from God. We are strengthened when we come to him in prayer. God wants a relationship with us all, so take some time and go to him. Luke 5:16. TO STAND ON SOLID GROUND: Obeying God is building a life on a strong foundation. We must be sure to build on the solid foundation of knowing and trusting in Jesus Christ. Without this solid foundation the building will crumble. Luke 6:48, 49. THE LIGHT WITHIN YOU: Jesus is the lamp; the eye is spiritual understanding and insight. Evil thoughts and desires make the eyes less sensitive and blot out Christs presence. Do not let sinful desires blind your focus towards Christ. Luke 11:33-36.
