SPIRITUAL ALCHEMY / THE GREAT WORK For those unfamiliar, in spiritual alchemy, WE ourselves are the lab work. We must separate out the undesirable aspects of our character and recombine the lessons learned and newly acquired character traits to ourselves so that we may make our dreams come true while living and maybe even someday acquire the much sought after PHILOSOPHER’S STONE. In the past hundreds of years, men and women have wrote very cryptically about this subject and used very elaborate and confusing teachings consisting of extremely complex laboratory experiments to make it difficult, if not impossible, for the earnest seeker. Many were lead astray by taking the teachings literally, by attempting to physically transform “lead” into “gold”… in a quick attempt to become RICH. However, we ourselves, before embarking upon the spiritual quest are in fact in a “lead” state and it is through the GREAT WORK that we transmutate the undesirable aspects of ourselves into something more fit for living life to the fullest (aka we create “GOLD”). This has an extremely intertwined relationship to religion and any type of progressive spirituality. This is why we see many alchemical symbols in a lot of the old cathedrals that were built by traveling masons.
