SPIRITUAL INSIGHT By Don Grigsby * Resting in the Secret of the Light and Hidden from the Axe of Destruction While Giants Bow at Our Feet When David slew Goliath, he was looking past the giant to the living God. Hidden in the David’s bag were the stones that would slay the giant. Goliath only saw the staff of David. Goliath remarked that David must think he was a dog to only come with a stick or staves. He did not see what was hidden in the bag. When John had the curtains pulled back on heaven, he saw that inside the lamb was a lion! Even in the barley cake of Gideon in the dream of the enemy was hidden the sword of Gideon. Goliath means “one who would strip you and leave you naked.” Giants of destruction are attacking the believer at all times. The idea is to get the believer to look at their own flesh as a diversion just like the rest of the army. In their naked flesh, there was weakness and inability. David saw that behind the lion and bear encounter was the living God of Israel. David looked past the giant and saw the living God. We must cease to look at ourselves and our circumstances and see the Lord. It is his battle. We are not destined for defeat but to be anointed as conquering kings and priests. God has spoken through us and will not allow some liar or lunatic to diminish the destiny that awaits us. Our deliverance has been written in the mind of the Almighty. Depression and disaster will never be able to dictate a tale of terror when God had already brought the terrible one to naught. Nothing can separate us from his love. We are hidden with Christ in God. In the time of trouble, we have been hid in Gods pavilion in the secret of his tabernacle. We are protected from the host or the one with the axe of destruction in the secret of his presence!
