SPIRITUALS (Prayer Burdens) Salvation makes it possible for the Spirit to rest in us but the baptism of the Holy Spirit makes it possible for the Spirit to rest upon us(This is the anointing of the Holy Spirit). He rests upon us to empower us to be ambassadors for Christ. The Spirit of God is the Spirit of power 2Tim 1:7, He is also the Spirit of prayer Zech 12:10. This means that the primary way the power of the Holy Spirit is expressed through the believer is through prayer. True prayer that provokes and releases Gods power is prayer in the Holy Ghost Eph 6:17. One way the Holy Spirit helps us in prayers is through prayer burdens. A prayer burden is the transmission of the burden on the heart of God into the heart of man. Most of the time, it is about intercession. God knows every need, every plot of the devil, every time and season to do things and He communicates this to the spirits of His people to pray concerning them. Prayer burdens can take two forms. The first is the defined form wherein details concerning the prayer is communicated. Details such as the person or group to be prayed for, how, when and duration of prayer. These details are often communicated through the voice of the Spirit, impressions or sudden concerns, compassion, urgency in the emotions on an issue produced by the Spirit. The second form is the undefined form wherein no specific or definite detail is communicated concerning the prayer topic. These prayers are to be prayed in tongues, or the language of the Spirit. This particular prayer burden can come like a literal ache in the heart, seeming feelings of depression, discomfort and anguish of heart which will persist until the topic of prayer is prayed. The more prayers are made, the more these feelings lift. It can be difficult to concentrate on any other thing apart from prayer when this particular burden comes.It is therefore important to discern them correctly so as not to confuse them for abnormalites, thinking there is something wrong with us.It is not uncommon for interpretations of the prayers to be given as you advance in prayer The duration of prayer burdens are indefinite but can depend on the general maturity of the believer and the maturity of his prayer life. It can last for few minutes to more than a month. It can come at any time and at any where. It can take any form ;silent, loud, repetitive etc.It might concern people or groups you know or people or groups you do not know However, all these parameters of the prayer burden should and will be defined by the Spirit. Prayer burdens are one primary way of partnering with the Holy Spirit to see His will done on the earth. It is also a way members of the body of Christ fellowship with one another. This supernatural fellowship transcends the boundaries of space, time and mental knowledge...to be continued..
