SPOILER ALERT - FIA FORMULA - TopicsExpress

SPOILER ALERT - FIA FORMULA E . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Single seaters. Battery powered. Race long enough to need 2 cars per driver due to power limitations. Bespoke, inner-city street circuits. It all sounded like a recipe for disaster to me. Too expensive, likely boring racing on crap circuits. It had A1GP written all over it - exciting new format, but poorly thought out. Turned out quite the opposite tho, and im pleasantly surprised. The cars arent quick by single seater standards, but that is what appealed to me. It was like watching good old fashioned Formula Ford 1600 racing again. Treaded tyres, with limited grip, mean the art of driving comes back into single seaters. The power management is actually just the same as F1. They get limited fuel per hour, these get limited batteries. Sportscars did the same many years ago, and look what that spawned. It meant that whilst Prost was running away with things to begin with, the others were catching him towards the end. Top 6 were covered by 2 seconds at one point. So it was to my dismay that Prost then ruined the inaugural event with a blatant swerve to block the charging (pun intended) Heidfeld coming into the last corner of the last lap, breaking both cars and sending Quick Nick into a frightening roll into the barriers. This event should have been all about the racing, the challenge and the way forward. Instead all the news will be about that idiotic move... bien fait , crétin.
