Yesterday at Parramatta Pool, Claudia and Lauren both made the NSW CHS 15s Water Polo Team to travel to the Pan Pacs Tournament in New Zealand in July. What a fantastic achievement - this makes three NSW CHS Water Polo reps in 2014 from Wagga Wagga High! ... Rugby Union 7s - Two teams of Year 9/10 Boys and one team of Year 7/8 Boys competed at the Brumbys Sevens Comp at Connelly Park last Tuesday. All team members took part with great sportsmanship and pride - even having a number of wins against Kildare and TRAC. One of the Year 9/10 Team went down by one try in a tight quarterfinal to the eventual winner St. Annes, Temora. Thanks to Mr Robertson and Mr Dare for coaching those teams. We have also had great roll-ups to numerous sport trials over the past few weeks. It is wonderful to see so many students making the most of our extra-curricular programs. DIVING ... Congratulations to both our divers, Jonothan and Carter who participated in the CWWHS Diving competition. Jonothan came first in the 17+ age group whilst Carter came third in the 16 years age division. Jonothan will now go on to represent WWHS at the Riverina Diving carnival this Thursday 13th March at Oasis Swimming Complex. Congratulations to both our divers, especially Carter who has had no diving training. SWIMMING ... The CWWHS Swimming Carnival was held in Wagga Wagga which saw a team of 51 students represent the school. There were many outstanding swims, with almost 30 students selected to represent WWHS at the Riverina Carnival in Leeton. Tristan won the Boys 15yrs Age Champion whilst Jessica won the 17yrs Age Champion at the CWWHS carnival. Congratulations to both these students as well as all the other competitors who represented the school. The Riverina Swimming Carnival was held in Leeton last Friday with 29 students competing. All students swam their best with some swimming PB‟s which was good to see, displaying the amount of effort that these athletes put into their sport. Some students have made it to the Combined High Schools carnival in Sydney on the 6th-8th April at Homebush. There will be a list of students representing WWHS at this carnival in next week‟s newsletter as not all results were published at the time of printing. Congratulations to all our swimmers who have been exemplary over the past few weeks. Mrs Bourke. BASKETBALL ... Last week the Open Girls Basketball team travelled to Tumut for the CHS knockout competition. They beat Kooringal High by one point in an intense first round match. The girls then went on to convincingly defeat Gundagai High, with the girls showing their skills and speed across the court. Unfortunately they lost to a very strong team from Tumut High, but put in a great effort given the heat and fatigue. The girls came second overall and did fantastic job given this was the first time playing all together. Standout players were Sarah, Lauren and Chelsea. Good work and thanks to everyone involved.
