SRFC YOUTH MATCH REPORTS Stafford Rangers Stripes U12s Mid Staffs Premier League Sunday 16th March 2014 Stafford Rangers Stripes 3 Rugeley Rangers 1 Stripes got back to winning ways with a hard fought victory over Rugeley Rangers. Stripes were up for it from the start and pushed Rugeley back into their own half. Harvey Gommersall and Joe Porter were both unlucky with efforts that both hit the bar. The deadlock was broken when an Eren Eskin through ball was converted by Charlie Owen. Braydon Milgate then doubled the lead with a well taken finish. Rugeley pulled a goal back early in the second half when the Stripes left their defence open. Jamie Thomson making his first league start scored direct from a free kick to put Stripes 3-1 up. Chance after chance was created, but Stripes were unable to score any further goals. Another great team performance from Stripes. Stafford Rangers U12s Lichfield League U12s League Cup Quarter-Final Stafford Rangers 2 Colron Boys 2 (After Extra Time) Stafford win 4-1 on Penalties. Stafford progressed into the League Cup Semi-Final following a very ill-tempered tie, which brought the cup holders to Stafford. Rangers made the brighter start and following a succession of Corners Gabriel Hughes cross was dropped by the keeper and DANNY STEVENS scored from close range. The first half saw very little goalmouth action with both teams trying to win the midfield battle. Within the first 90 seconds of the second half Colron levelled the scores from the penalty spot after James Black was adjudged to have pushed the striker in the back from a direct free kick. Colron started to take control with the wind behind them but Rangers back 4 defended like soldiers. Extra time was needed with the scores level and it was Rangers who this time when Christian Blanchette was brought down and JAMES BLACK scored from the spot. But he went from hero to villain when he fouled the striker with a poorly timed clearance and Colron again levelled from the penalty spot to make it 2-2 and send the tie to Penalties. Rangers won the shoot out with Goals from James Black, Gabriel Hughes, Owen Turner and Christian Blanchette with goalkeeper Bradley Foster-Theniger saving 2 spot kicks to book Rangers semi-final spot
