SRINAGAR – Dozens of youth took out an anti-poll protest while unknown persons attacked house of a ruling party activist with petrol bomb here in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir which is scheduled to go to polls on Sunday. Moreover, an election officer was injured when youth stoned the bus carrying poll staff in Anantnag district.The protest started at Maisuma area of Srinagar this evening. Reports said the youth held black flags as they staged an anti-election and pro-freedom protest. They chanted slogans in favour of Islam and freedom. Reports said that the youth also resorted to stone pelting but dispersedoff later.Unknown persons hurled a petrol bomb at the house of ruling National Conference activist – Muhammad Sultan Malik – resident of Nowpora area of downtown Srinagar. No one was injured in the attack. However, it created panic among his familymembers, sources said.Meanwhile, a Presiding Officer – Muhammad Lateef – sustained injuries when youth stoned a bus carrying poll staff in Sarnal area of South Kashmir’s Anantnagdistrict. The area is also going to polls on Sunday under fourth phase of Assembly elections. The injured officer was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Lateef wasreportedly the Polling Officer for polling station Sarnal Bala. (Inputs: GNS)
