STATE BJP LEADERS MEET PARTY PRESIDENT AMIT SHAH OVER GOVT FORMATION IN JK Kashmir News Service | January 5, 2015 | Agencies | No Comments JAMMU – With impasse continuing over the formation of government in Jammu and Kashmir, the State leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday met party’s National President Amit Shah in New Delhi and gave their inputs about the formation of new government. The party sources said that the state core group disused the current political situation arising after the fractured poll results and also gave their inputs about the Common Minimum Program (CPM) with the Peoples Democratic Party to from joint government in the State. “There will be some breakthrough soon. The state leaders shared their inputs with the Party leadership. The leadership ensured them that the party within few days will come up with the decision about the formation of new government,” one of the BJP leaders who was part of the meeting told KNS on condition of anonymity. Another senior BJP leader told KNS over phone from New Delhi that both PDP and BJP have reached to some consensus and all the modalities have been finalized to form the government. “PDP and the BJP are the two largest parties in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly. For the stable government there is already some headway and some big developments have taken place between two parties about the formation of new government,” he said and added that within one week the formal announcement is expected. He said that demands that the PDP has made with the BJP were also discussed in the meeting. “There are some demands which have been made by the PDP including revocation of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act or AFSPA, talks to be held with Kashmiri separatists and the promise that Article 370, which grants special status to J&K, will not be revoked. The BJP has agreed that if the peace and normalcy returns in the valley then it can think over the revocation of the law in some areas but about the Article 370 the party’s stand is clear that they want to debate over the issue,” he said. BJP’s state vice president Remesh Arora said that though the meeting was impressive, Amit Shah said that it will take more time to form the new government in Jammu and Kashmir. Arora had recently said that top party leaders were in touch with Mufti. “I cannot say whether (L K) Advani called Mufti (Mohamamd Sayeed) or not but I can confirm that our top leaders are in touch with Mufti,” he had said. Meanwhile, sources said that BJP general secretary Ram Madhav is arriving in Kashmir within two days with a mandate from his party to meet the top PDP leadership over the issue of government formation. BJP chief Amit Shah on Sunday had called top leaders of his party in Jammu and Kashmir unit for an urgent meeting in Delhi to discuss the way forward in the state.
