STATE-WIDE HEAT EVENT, 06/27/13 – 07/03/13: (New) Phase II Criteria of the Heat Plan has been met: * National Weather Service has issued Excessive Heat Warnings Friday through Monday for portions of Southern California, and Special Weather Statements for areas in Southern California, the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area, and the Central Valley in Northern California. *82013 Cooling Center Sites** The County of Madera, City of Madera, and City of Chowchilla have established the following locations as Cooling Centers during times of extreme summer heat. The Centers will be open the days and times of the week as indicated on the list provided below. Other Centers may be opened on an “as need” basis and will be announced through the Madera County Sheriff’s Office. Centers are closed on holidays unless otherwise indicated.
