STATEMENT BY YAB TAN SRI DATO HJ MUHYIDDIN HJ MOHD YASSIN DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER OF MALAYSIA ON ISRAEL’S CONTINUED MILITARY AGGRESSION ON GAZA, PALESTINE I condemn in the strongest terms on Israel military forces’ continued merciless killings on the people of Palestine in Gaza, who are mostly women, children and the elderly. I demand Israel to immediately halt its heinous massacre and inhuman act on the defenseless civilian population in Gaza, Palestine. I deeply regret the numerous ceasefire efforts to halt Israel’s massacre and strong condemnation on Israel’s heinous war crime by the international community have only been met with more bombings by the Israeli military forces as the crisis in Gaza enters the 28th day, unnecessarily claiming the lives of more than 1,700 Palestinians and the destruction of crucial social and economic infrastructures, including those of the United Nations. In this regard, Malaysia strongly calls on the Member States of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to stand united and act decisively to bring an immediate end to Israel’s blatant military aggression on the Palestinian people in Gaza. Malaysia urges the international community including the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to collectively exert a bolder role in protecting and upholding the rights of our Palestinian brothers and sisters and to end the bloodshed in Gaza. Malaysia also calls on the United States and its allies to immediately demand Israel to halt its perverse atrocities on the Palestinian people of Gaza. I was moved by the support shown by Malaysians and the international community toward the Palestinian cause, their condemnation of the atrocities committed by the Israeli forces on the civilian people of Gaza and their call for an immediate end to the Israelis aggression. I believe the merciless killings of civilians by the Israeli forces is a clear act of terror and a war crime punishable under the international law.
