STATEMENT OF INTENT Test Dept in its former state may have ceased to function but the core of the original group has re-emerged to engage with the current cultural and political climate, exploring new ways of expression in a strategic programme of actions. They will be participating in the ‘Still the Enemy Within’ event at Rich Mix In London on 8th March where they will preview related material from their forthcoming book ‘Total State Machine’, due for publication in June. That will be followed in late March with the finale to the AV14 Festival in Newcastle. The event involves a journey down the River Tyne to witness the drama and noise of the monumental Dunston Staiths, brought back to life in a vital cinematic, sonic, and lighting intervention. * This installation is an investigation of the group’s own archive and involvement with striking miners and marks the 30th anniversary of the 84’ strike. * Note - This is not a live concert.
