STATEMENT OF THE AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS IN NKANGALA REGION, MPUMALANGA ON THE UNTIMELY DEATH OF COMRADE HLAKUDI FRANS TOMMY NKOANA. The African National Congress in Nkangala region,Mpumalanga province has learned with sadness the passing away of our former regional secretary cde Hlaudi Frans Tommy Nkoana . We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, comrades,friends and loved ones. His untimely death following a short illness has robbed the ANC and the people of the Nkangala region of a dedicated and selfless activist and leader who had dedicated his life to the service of our people. Comrade Tommy was known for his active participation on the merger of the form Western and Highveld region to form Nkangala region which resulted in him being elected as the founding Regional Secretary of Nkangala region after the merger; he remain the longest serving regional secretary of ANC in the region. He made his mark in the Mpumalanga provincial government as a political advisor to the premier honorable DD Mabuza before being affirmed to the National Parliament as member of parliament. We must use the life and times of the late cde Tommy as the revolutionary activist who dedicated his entire life to be an agent of change in the context of being a champion of socio-economic transformation agenda, we should draw lessons from his all-round leadership style to root out factionalism in the movement and wither away with corruption where it raises its ugly head in our institutions of governance. We take this opportunity to thank his family for having shared his valuable life with the majority of South Africans, the poor and downtrodden masses in particular. His mark will be a symbol of determination to be emulated by future generations. The Spear has fallen, we ought to pick it up and continue with the fight in this year of the freedom Charter and unity in action to advance economic freedom. May his soul rest in piece!
