STAWELL - The staff and students at Stawell Secondary College have been gathering books no longer in use at the school to donate to the Buk bilong Pikinini Childrens Libraries. These childrens libraries are being established across Papua New Guinea to help increase literacy rates and to foster a love of reading and learning amongst the young people. Kate McInnes (Shuttleworth), a former student of the college, is now based in Papua New Guinea with her family. Since her arrival in the country Kate has seen the wonderful work these libraries are doing and how donations of gently-used books, educational toys and writing materials are greatly needed to enable the work of the Buk bilong Pikinini Childrens Libraries to continue and grow. The College was thrilled to be able to assist Kate in her efforts. For further information contact Sue Shuttleworth on 5358 2131 or go to the website - bukbilongpikinini.org
