STAY CONNECTED ECCL. 4:9-12 What does it mean to stay connected? Remain together, united, remain a team, unblocked channel, free flow, uninterrupted power or supply. Working together gives better results. Every member is needed to make a contribution during every performance, game or outing. Each player has a role in the team, even the substitutes on the reserve bench. It is important we play as a team. Individual play will disconnect us from other members; and the performance of the team would be negatively affected, because there would be wasted opportunities. One way to contribute your quota to the team building is to be conscious of where every other member of the team is and make sure no one is disconnected or neglected. Another way is to let the team members that are gifted in certain areas better utilize their gifts or position for the team’s assignment or goal. Another way is to be involved in the structured defense plan of the team. (Strength in number). Another way is to always dish out encouragement to other members of the team. Another way is to learn to always appreciate the role of all the other members of the team. Another way is to always do your best for the growth of the team. Asking questions from team members to know their needs and their strengths and better understand and connect better with them is also important. Finally members of the team must learn to share their struggles and successes with each other. Staying connected with each other begins with getting connected with God. We get connected to God through obedience to His Words. Gen. 2:28 says “It is not good for man to be alone” and gave you an helper, why are you cutting yourself off from your spouse or children or the fellowship? Eccl. 4:9-12 says two are better than one because they will have better results for their labour- because the can help each other up; warm each other up; and defend each other when attacked. In Acts 6:1-6 there was division in the Church because some people were neglected and steps were taken to assign the role to faithful men full of the Spirit of God. In Matt. 18:19 the importance of agreement in prayer is emphasized. In Mk. 2:1-5 Joseph received guidance because he stayed connected with God. One broomstick will break easily, but to break plenty broomsticks tied together you will need a lot more efforts. In the same way one broomstick will be difficult to use to sweep any place, whereas plenty broomsticks tied together will sweep easily once the right hand is handling it. Have you ever wondered why the geese fly in the “V” formation? What do you think will happen to a member that is far away from the team when a storm comes? We can help each other up, by assisting each other in our field of interests; by defending each other and by praying for each other. We can keep each other warm spiritually by sharing what we discover in the bible or testimonies and experiences (both good and bad) and by praying with or for each other. We can defend each other’s reputation by saying or telling good things about other members to others and to family members. We can work closer to be more effective by supporting ourselves emotionally; by celebrating each other’s gifts; by sharing our struggles and by praying for each other. We can improve the relationship within the team by encouraging others when they make a mistake. Where there is connection “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts” Let us synergize. We are created for each other.
