STEM CELL UPDATE!!! I just picked Fintan up from his class. I was a bit early, so the head teacher came out to talk to me. (We havent sent Fintans extra tablet to school, because Brendan is trying to find the best cover.) His teacher was excited. She was telling me they are ready for the tablet. Fintan requested to use the bathroom independently today. He is usually on a schedule. She told me he has NEVER done that before. His behaviors have decreased enough that they are able to allow him in more group activities. (One year ago he had been suspended twice, and we had an Emergency IEP where they suggested he stay home half the day.) She told me that Fintan is doing great. He is attending to his work in class and getting it done. Still he has behaviors, but doing so well. That may not sound like huge gains, but it is a difference that will allow more normalcy in our lives and more independence for Fintan. His ability to attend and actually get projects completed will open the doors to learning for him. Also, I NEVER have had a report like that when I have picked Fintan up. He is also extremely affectionate. My husbands babysitter told me that Fintan has been coming to sit next to her on the couch for long cuddles. Also, she told me they have been able to go on walks, and she has not had to hold Fintans hand. He is not bolting. Actually, as I am writing this I am realizing it has been many weeks since he has bolted in the grocery store, and I am in tears. :-) I am a happy mom today!!
