STEPPING STONES NURSERY NEWSLETTER No. 30 AUGUST 2014 Welcome back after the Summer holidays and hope you all had a good holiday. We would like to welcome the new children and their families into the setting. For children who have moved onto the 2/3 area from the babyroom and those who have moved onto the ante and pre school area from the 2/3 we hope you all settle well in your new playareas. As Paula left the nursery during the summer break to pursue a change of career we would like to welcome Nikole Noble into the nursery who is HNC qualified and Dawn Marshall who has transferred from our Ellon nursery and both will be working in the ante and pre school area along with Gina. Julie and Demi Jo remain in the babyroom and Erin and Sandra remain in the 2/3 area, Michelle shall be covering babyroom and 2/3 area As from 19th August ante and pre school commissioned hours increase to 15 hours weekly during term time. As all children now have an Individual Care Plan could parents of returning children please see Carole Anne to read and sign their child’s one and if there is any additional information you feel needs to be added. Parents are reminded that registration takes place at 9am and 1pm, please ensure that your child is on time as lateness disrupts the routine of the playrooms. If your child is going to be late for whatever reason we would appreciate a call to inform us of this. Due to staff/child ratio’s if your child’s session time begins at 9am or 1pm they will only be allowed to enter their playarea five minutes before their session begins as we must adhere to our ratios as per The Care Inspectorate. If you do require your child to begin nursery earlier than their normal session times please see Carole Anne as extra staff may be needed to be brought in as we only have two staff on from 8am to 9am and staff are on lunches until 1pm. It is company policy that if children are more than five minutes earlier than when their session begins parents will be asked to wait in the cloakroom with their child/children. Cooked lunches resume on Tuesday 19th August, if you do require your child to have cooked lunches all orders and money must be handed in week prior to your child staying for lunch. Failure to do this shall result in our child being unable to have cooked lunch. If your child is in the 2/3 or the 3/5 area and you supply packed lunch for your child it must be of cold content as it is company policy that we cannot heat up any food as the cook is busy preparing lunches for children who stay for cooked lunches. This applies during term time only. If your child begins their session at 1pm could you please ensure that they have had their lunch before they begin their session. Parents are reminded that it is really important that if there have been any changes to your child’s personal or medical information could you please inform Carole Anne immediately so these changes can be made on our records as this information must be kept up to date. As of late if we have had to contact parents some details held have been outdated and this has caused problems in contacting parents and emergency contacts. If you have to leave your child’s pram in the cloakroom we must ask that they are easy foldable and must be folded to save congestion in this area. Parents are asked to check the information boards which are situated in each play area and in the cloakroom. Information is also posted on our Facebook page which is Stepping Stones Nurseries (Peterhead) Ltd and via e mail if you have supplied us with your e mail address. A reminder also to please check your child’s tray for pictures, paintings etc. Children’s trays for the ante and pre school children are now upstairs in their own area. Could parent’s please mark all their child’s personal belongings with their name as not to avoid confusion as some children have the same jackets, bags, packed lunches etc. Nursery jumpers and bags are available to order, please see Carole Anne if you wish to see a sample of these and to order. Fees increase from Monday 18th August 0-2 years £4.80 per hour, 2-5 years £4.60 per hour, 50p snack per session for commissioned children and lunches remain at £2.50 Parents are more than welcome to come into the nursery and observe what your child does during their time within the setting and it also gives you the opportunity to discuss with your child’s keyworker any concerns or ideas you may have. Times for these visits are from 10.15am-11.15am and 2.15pm-3.15pm. If you wish to make an appointment please see Carole Anne. Parents are reminded that it is company policy that parents are responsible for taking their child/children into the nursery and getting them changed into their outdoor attire and taking them to their playarea. It is company policy that if your child has been sick they must not attend nursery and can only return 48 hours after the last case of vomiting, please refer to our infectious control policy and the exclusion period for infectious illnesses posted on the cloakroom wall. We would to thank the Parents Forum for donating new resources to the nursery. All children shall be participating in a sponsored obstacle course during a week in September to raise funds for Santa gifts, sponsor forms shall be given out for this at the beginning of September. Parents are asked to provide their child with warm clothing and suitable attire for going outdoors in the cold weather. Tempest Photography shall be in nursery on Tuesday 7th October from 9am-4pm, if your child does not attend nursery on that date and you require your child to have their photograph taken please see Carole Anne for an appointment time, brother and sisters are welcome to come in to if you wish a family photograph.
