STIFF NECK Why will you die, O house of Israel ? Ezekiel 18 : 31 My stiff neck was on its third day. I could barely move without agonizing over the stretching of every little muscle. To have one on a busy day is perhaps among the most miserable predica- ments a working person could ever have. I was left with nothing to do except submit to the rigors of therapy. My situation reminded me of how the LORD often des - cribbed the Israelites as a stiff - necked people. For me, their me- mory seemed short. They easily forgot GODs faithfulness & often- times exchanged GODs solutions for theirs to instantly gratify their needs. As a result, they piled sin upon sin. As they suffered the consequences, they grumbled all the more, putting the blame on GOD for staging that spectacular rescue fr. the hands of Pharaoh. Like them, we, too, sometimes prefer a spiritual stiff neck and blame GOD for wearying us. We conveniently forget our stubborness, w/c results in our troubles [ Sirach 3 : 26 ]. But GOD in- vites us now to repent, to be completely assured of HIS overwhelm- ing kindlness [ Romans 2 : 4 ]. As we ask HIS forgiveness for our disobedience, let us change our ways and receive the life GOD wants for us . -- DONDON
