STILL ON ASUU The Federal Government has extended the deadline on an ultimatum issued to striking university lecturers to December 9. ...Nigerian Newsdesk; 03.12.2013 Like I said: somebody goofed, and it was not ASUU. The FG should have the decency to quietly invite ASUU leadership and offer a compromise position. Nobody loses when it comes to national consideration. In the spirit of National Interest, GEJ should put this nonsense to an abrupt halt. The nations universities have been shut for more than 4 months. This is no ego contest. The Education Minister has been forced to eat up his vomit by extending a ridiculous deadline that made no sense in the first place. This was not a case of a strike by air controllers where you could call the Nigerian Air force to take over the control towers and bluff the strike. Who told Wike you could wish away over 1000 professors? How do you replace them? Where do you replace them from? The President should have the presence of mind to begin and instil sanity in the system. His advisers have bastardised and traumatized the citizenry to no end. Its time the President provided confidence to ASUU by agreeing to their terms. Everything has been taken from Nigerians. Please, lets at least educate ourselves, our younger ones and our children so we can make do with our lives in the absence of all else. And this has nothing to do with 2015 whatsoever. This has nothing to do with subversion whatsoever. This has all to do with our dignity as bona fide citizens of this space called Nigeria. This too should not be taken from us. Its the only thing we have remaining worth the name.
