STILL ON BHAS Much have been said abt leaders in various categories. Obviously, leadership is an inherent characteristic embedded in someone. Ive said often times that leadership goes beyond being a politician, representation also goes beyond contesting and winning election. Leadership is latent and innate, which is largely depends on genetic composition of the person in question, principle of human relation among others. The kind gestures recently being displayed by our so called leaders as election draws nearer is quite unfortunate. kind gesture should be a routine habit with no attached string. Kudos to BHAS in this regard A leader of note, Dr. Olusegun Agagu(RIP), distinguished himself from politics of bitterness and calumny being recently practiced in our district by being fair to all in the issues of national and state interest. Agagu displayed highest level of patriotism and selflessness just like the late sage, chief Obafemi Awolowo by establishing and citing Ondo State University of Science and Technology in such a way that it central and accessible to all the LGs in our area. He didnt locate the school at Osooro axis of Okitipupa where he came from, but for the benefit of the entire zone, hence the choice of Igodan for its location. It is disheartening that those we project as leaders and politicians of note, those we look up unto for direction and those representing us at the lower chamber of the national assembly can result into calumny and bitterness in their bid to exploit political advantage and commercial benefit. The Fed. poly Ile-Oluji would have been another plus for us in Ikale and Ilaje but for the incubent Rep. member of Okitipupa/Irele fed constituency, and the ex-rep of Ilaje/Ese-odo. The former felt citing the institution in Ilaje or Irele has no direct impact on his immediate community, a suburb of Irele. As such, he mobilized and consulted with other big wigs and thwarted the establishment of the school in these areas in exchange of financial inducement. While the latter also supported the former in a marriage of politics as he has been assured of getting the major contracts in the institution. We should not also forget the power play that returned BHAS as Federal Character Commissioner. It is only the enemy of progress, humanity, posterity and entire human race that would attribute politics to the wonderful job of alleviating unemployment problems BHAS is saddled with. These peoples hatred for the entire Ondo South people came to the fore when they were running from pillar to post, bribing their ways in their bid to halt the empowerment program of BHAS just in the name of politics This unscrupulous element in his bid to disparage his ignorance and nonentity, collected a huge sum of money to the tune 3million naira from an ex-assembly member of Irele, promising him the position of FCC which never see the light. This element is so myopic as to know the happening in the lower chamber, let alone the cerebral capability to influence any contact that can place people in any meaningful position The question we need to ask ourselves is: Apart from distribution of money to some selected party leaders and thugs, what meaningful impact his presence at the national assembly offers the good people of Okitipupa/Irele federal constituency? It is high time we really defined our future, it is time we presented peoples of good faces, minds brains and character to represent us at the national assembly. It is high time we rejected thuggery, incompetence, illiteracy, ignorant person(s) as our representatives.
