STILLNESS IN ACTIVITY Do or do not. There is no try. - Yoda Most of us are used to getting results by trying harder, pushing, forcing, or even resisting with all of our might. Ive learned over the years that doing the wrong thing with more intensity rarely, if ever improves my situation. As you learn to meditate you start to notice your choice patterns and you can quickly see how to undo old patterns of tension and stress that werent working for you - and how to get more results with far less effort. I call this paradox, stillness in activity. This state of harmony, flow and grace will positively influence every area of your life. When you meditate youre learning how to divide your attention appropriately between focusing on your breath and your senses - while simultaneously maintaining an awareness of the whole picture in the present moment. You see that you must relax and lightly focus at the same time. This quality of relaxed concentration is essential for high performance in any discipline. When you watch athletes such as Michael Jordan and Larry Bird you notice that they made it look easy. Even outside of meditation you will soon discover the best results are achieved by using the amount of effort in the RIGHT place at the RIGHT time. In all honesty, the right amount of effort is usually less than we think we need. The less unnecessary effort and stress you put into learning, the more successful youll be. Peace IN.
