STOP COMPLAINING, learn to LIVE WITH HIM: an Eye for an Eye. Recently someone sent me a message in which she claimed that her husband beat her up, knocked off her tooth, gave her a swollen eye, and threatened her with a broken bottle and that she doesnt know what to do. I asked her: if you went into the streets and someone was brandishing a broken bottle, what would you do? Her instant reply was, Uncle Mike, haba...! which kain question be that na? I will run na....! From that interaction, I found the answer to so many other similar questions. Listen, those of you who always complain of Spousal abuse dis and dat and yet unwilling to leave, should simply do the needful: LEARN TO LIVE WITH IT? If you love your husband, but he abuses you and you dont want to leave, but want to keep your family because of what your friends and family and society or religion might say, then my dear forget friends, forget family, forget religion and forget society. Get yourself a Good Trainer, Register at a gym. Learn Judo or Karate or boxing- learn something about Pin-hold and by all means master the use of a firm chokehold- and if possible, learn it secretly. The best possible moment to apply a chokehold is when someone raises a right hand above you. At that moment, before God, before the Law, and before men like me, you are morally right to defend yourself. Stop talking or nagging or shouting. Be quiet and use him for practice and exercise. Offer him as a sacrifice to those who trained you in martial arts so that they may be proud of your good Studentship. And if he is a wise man, he wont go into town to complain that- my wife beat me! If he wouldnt complain, why should you be the one complaining? You too should STOP complaining. Next time, instead of sending messages to Uncle Mike or reporting him to your pastor who will send you back on your knees or your parents who might even see it as an attempt to bring shame to them, next time he lifts a hand, just explain to him that you want to lock the door first so that the neighbours and kids wont disturb you guys. Then excuse him and lock the door properly. My sister, sort it out with him once and for all, and thereafter use him for practice. As you can see this solution is better than using a whole man for rituals because that makes you a widow. But this solution has the capacity to make you a Respected Wife. And whether is is respect based on fear or not, YOU NO SEND; at least you have your peace. Yes, you dont have to leave your abusive marriage, but please STOP COMPLAINING! God bless. (MIU, Dec. 2014).
