STOP THE HYPOCRICY AND STEP DOWN- CAF TELLS ABLAKWA We the members of the Citizens Awake Forum (CAF) wish to add our voice to the calls for the resignation of the Deputy Education Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, in his involvement in the payment of $325,472 to Isofoton SA. OkudzetoAblakwa in his capacity as the then Deputy Information Minister knew very well that Isofoton SA did not have any contract with the Ghana government to warrant any payment. Rather, Ablakwa used his position in the ministry and mounted platforms defending Isofoton to reasons only know best to him. It was rather unfortunate as a Deputy Minister of the State, sworn before the President to uphold, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the Republic of Ghana, acted as the negotiator, the arbitrator as well as the spoke person for the Isofoton SA. In our opinion, Ablakwa should have joined hands with Mr. Martin Amidu to retrieve payments made to Isofoton SA. It is obvious from the Supreme Court ruling that Ablakwa used his ministry and position to help Isofoton to deplete the state purse to suit his interest. Infact, trying to play smart and shift the blame on former government officials’ after the Supreme Court’s verdict shows how indecisive and untrusted Ablakwa can be on issues of national interest. It will only serve the government and Ablakwa’s own reputation and interest, if he resigns and help in retrieving the money. Ablakwa must resign; he must resign as soon as possible and tell his ‘cohorts’ to pay the money as directed by the Supreme Court. This gargantuan level of "creating, looting and sharing" must stop. The tax payers’ money must be protected and it is the mandate of government officials to do so. Long live Ghana! Long live CAF!
