STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART Draw Near to God and He Will Draw Near to You A closer walk with God must begin with preparation of the heart. We look around and see supposedly healthy vibrant and productive people unexpectedly and suddenly dying. That’s right! Man does not know the day and hour of his own demise. God chooses to keep that to Himself that’s why we must prepare our hearts. We fall into sin when our hearts are not prepared to seek the Lord. Thousands of people have been genuinely known to love the Lord at one time and in many cases, completely abandoned the Lord and the things that were once so dear to them. Never be caught dead in sin. The word prepare conveys the idea of making a deliberate effort over a prolonged period of time. I give you an example of how Davids men tried to get him to kill Saul and seize the throne which was rightfully his, but David wouldnt do it even though Saul tried to kill him. In Psalms 57:7 David said My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise If David had not already fixed his heart on what he would and would not do, he would have succumbed to the pressure of that moment. No one can prepare their heart on their own. This is not a matter of sheer will power. God must be involved. Only when we trust in the Lord and depend on Him can we find the strength to prepare our hearts. Draw Near to God and He will draw near to you. Have a blessed day.
