STRANGE STATIONARY LIGHTS OVER VEGAS! Mufon Report # 59928 Henderson, NV This was last night (9-18-14), about 9PM over the Stratosphere/North Las Vegas. I actually think this was further North than North Las Vegas but distance at night is just a guess. The lights actually had a slight amber tint to them and you can see the passing aircraft. So we wondered if any aircraft saw the same lights. The lights were stationary in the sky. I set my camera to the wrong setting so the quality is less that I expected. Also, I took this video over the initial recording (I thought I was recording to tape but instead selected to record to memory.) So when I started recording the 2nd sighting, I recorded over the 1st sighting, so I only have about half the video I initially took. The 1st sighting was in the northwest (towards Red Rocks), & the lights appeared at approximately the same altitude as the 2nd recording/sighting, attached. In the 1st recording there were only 3 lights. They slowly disappeared one at a time. Then in less than 30 seconds they reappeared in the north. 1. We were in our backyard, that over looks the strip & mountains. We always look at the strip which is approximately 12 miles from our home. 2. In the NNW there is not normally any approaching aircraft landing lights. This would be an odd approach for landing aircraft. Both my wife & I use to work for the airlines at McCarran. After they disappeared in the NNW, we started to go into the house but then the 3 lights reappeared in the N. They were joined by 3 more lights that appeared one at a time. Slowly they all disappeared 1 at a time while I was on the phone with 311. 3. Unknown at first, but after observing for several minutes & the lights remained stationary we felt this was not right. We called 311 to find out if there had been other reports, but was told none had been received. Also the lights were a strange bright amber color & the aircraft & helicopter appear white in the night sky. 4. The objects appeared round, star like, twinkling almost, but the twinkling could have been from the atmosphere due to the distance. They were amber in color. They never moved just appeared & then disappeared. 5. Amazement & curiosity. Very interesting & a feeling we were witnessing UFOs. As stated above, we called 311 to find out if others had seen the same lights. 6. They disappeared one at a time.
