THE CHINESE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY OF KUALA LUMPUR AND SELANGOR “Innovative Youth, Future Business Leader” Competition Rules 1. INTRODUCTION “Innovative Youth, Future Business Leader” competition is organized by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor (KLSCCCI) with the aim to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit of Malaysian youth and to promote racial harmony and national unity. Participating teams are required to submit their most innovative written proposal and shortlisted teams will be invited to present their proposal to a panel of judges. The winners will be awarded RM 6,000 cash prizes. 2. TEAMS 2.1 Team Composition a) Each Team shall comprise only of Malaysian Citizen and participation of different races is encouraged; b) Each Team must consist of not less than three (3) registered members and not more than five (5) registered members; c) Any Team who fail to meet the above requirements shall not be eligible to participate in the competition. 2.2 Team Member Requirements Each Team Member shall: a) accept the terms and conditions set out in the “Competition Rules” upon registration; b) be a student currently undergoing full-time course in any local or foreign university or college. 3. WRITTEN PROPOSAL Participating Teams will be assigned randomly into four (4) categories. Each Team must prepare a written marketing proposal on the designated Subject Product. The Written Proposal must: a) conform to the guidelines set forth in Attachment A, “Written Proposal Guidelines”; the cover page is shown in Attachment B; b) not exceed ten (10) A4-sized papers, excluding tables and figures; c) be written only in English, except the name and special terms of the product; d) be the original and genuine work of the Team Members; and e) be submitted to the organiser on/before the deadline determined by the organiser. 4. PRESENTATION Only shortlisted Teams are requested to give presentation on their proposals to a panel of Judges. a) The Presentation must be in English. b) The students shall not submit to the Judges any printed materials before/after the Presentations but the organiser shall print out the Presentation slides for the Judges before the event. c) Teams shall not use any props in their Presentation. d) Only Team Members shall be allowed to participate in the Presentation. e) The duration of each Presentation is limited to ten (10) minutes; however, an additional ten (10) minutes shall be allowed to each Team to answer questions posed by the Judges. Only Judges are permitted to pose questions to a Team during the question-and-answer session of the Presentation. f) Each Presentation will be timed and the Timekeeper will provide two (2) minutes warning and an announcement when time has lapsed. Each Team must conclude the Presentation immediately upon announcement by the timekeeper that the time is up. 5. JUDGES a) Each category shall have a panel of three (3) Judges per panel. b) The Judges shall be selected by the organiser. c) Decisions of the Judges are final. 6. USE OF PROPOSAL KLSCCCI shall own the copyright and intellectual properties in all materials used and prepared by/for Teams and Judges in connection with the “Innovative Youth, Future Business Leader” competition. The Written Proposals and Presentations prepared for the competition shall not be used for any purposes other than participating for the “Innovative Youth, Future Business Leader” competition. However, the Sponsors have the liberty to disclose or use the ideas contained in the Proposal without disclosing its source or payment of any remuneration or compensation to participants. Proposal submitted shall not be returned. 7. CONFLICTS OF INTEREST All participants in the “Innovative Youth, Future Business Leader” competition, including Organiser, Teams, Team Members and Judges have an obligation to avoid actual or potential conflicts of interest between them and the participants. A conflict of interest may exist when a participant or a participant’s family member or close friend is involved in activities that may affect the participant’s ability to perform their role fairly and impartially or influence the outcome of the competition. To avoid any actual or perceived conflicts of interest, each participant must disclose to KLSCCCI in writing any potential conflicts, including but not limited to any ownership interest in the Subject Product and any close personal or professional relationships with employees in relation to the Subject Product. Judges shall also disclose any close personal or professional relationship with any Team Member. 8. DISQUALIFICATION A Team may be disqualified if they are found to have been in breach ethical standard reasonable expect of them or the idea used belongs to a third party without that party’s consent or breach of any of the above terms and conditions. "We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to change, modify or otherwise alter these terms and conditions at any time. Such modifications shall become effective immediately upon the posting thereof."
