Abstract 852 Half followed a low-carb diet (25%carbohydrate, 45%fat, 30%protein). The other half followed a low-fat diet (55% carbohydrate, 25%fat, 20% protein). The diets provided the same amount of calories. At 3 weeks, the low-carb group reduced their use of conventional oral antidiabetic medication by 86%! The low-fat reduced them by only 6%! Systolic and diastolic pressures also fell (blood pressure) for the low-carb group and no change was noted in the low-fat group. After the 3 weeks, the low-fat switched to the low-carb diet. At the 2 week point they reduced medication by 57% and their blood pressure improved. What You Eat Can Drastically Effect Your Health!
