STUDY TO SHOW YOURSELF APPROVED THE SEEKING OF GODLY COUNSEL...Im struck by how many times wisdom and understanding go hand in hand in the Word of God yet many us separate wisdom from understanding in our everyday life, because we are not wise in our understanding. How many of us fall into traps that could be prevented, if we would have only use wisdom and discernment before we make a decision. For some reason as one who tends to be sought for counsel, I feel a greater responsibility to those who respect my opinion enough to ask to be wise with my words. Because if my words are not based in truth of the scriptures then I am probably causing someone to stumble and God will hold me accountable for my words. I dont know about you but I put counseling, in a similar category as teaching: James 3:1 Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. I find it disturbing that so many leaders even in the body of Christ are giving counsel to people contrary to the Word of God. If you do not know the word of God on a matter then you should seek God for wisdom BEFORE you answer...another example of where it is important to be quick to hear and slow to speak! A part of gaining wisdom is a rebuke whom the Lord loves he chastises! Yes correction is for us all, even as leaders and those are who experienced in the faith when they are wrong so that they may learn due prudence about the matters at hand. More reason to study the Word of God for yourself know what says, because there is certainly deception that has gone rampant in the land- beloved believe not every spirit! Proverbs 1:1 These are the wise sayings of Solomon, David’s son, Israel’s king— 2.Written down so we’ll know how to live well and right, to understand what life means and where it’s going; 3. A manual for living, for learning what’s right and just and fair; 4.To teach the inexperienced the ropes and give our young people a grasp on reality. 5.There’s something here also for seasoned men and women, still a thing or two for the experienced to learn— 6. Fresh wisdom to probe and penetrate, the rhymes and reasons of wise men and women. 7 Start with God—the first step in learning is surrender to God; only fools thumb their noses at such wisdom and learning
