STUPID THINGS HEARD AT MEETINGS Who keeps us sober: So why come to meeting, what does God have against those who don’t stay sober? Ninety meetings in ninety days: What happens on the ninety first day, am I well; so what about the Steps? When you leave here, leave here what you hear here: So how can we use what we heard? A moment of silence for those still suffering inside and outside these rooms: What about those who are not suffering, do they matter? You, the newcomer are the most important person here: Hey, what about me? Any newcomers here: Why tell the group they are here with their permission instead of putting them in the spot light? If you need a sponsor see me after the meeting: Do you have a sponsor list, why don’t we appoint ourselves to be a temporary sponsor? Just come to meetings, read the Big Book and talk to a sponsor. Great: How about applying the principles of something called the Twelve Steps? Fake it till you make it: Thought this was a Program of honesty. Meeting makers make it: O, whatever happened to God? The Twelve Steps? Working with others? Just take what you need and leave the rest: How do we know what to take and what I may need later, is the newcomer capable of figuring this out? Don’t worry about a fourth Step; you’ll know when you’re ready: When, in jail, the hospital, drunk, etc? There is no time table for working the Steps: O, the Big Books I read says: at once, immediately, etc. This is a selfish program: We sure do a lot for each other for this to be selfish. This too will pass: I guess we just sit back and bear it until it is over. The slogan Think, Think, Think I believe means for us to think, but how often do we hear in meetings, My best thinking got me here, or my sponsor told me not to think: Then how do we do Step Eleven which suggests meditation?
