SUJUUDU SSAHW PART II All perfect adorations and praise be to Allaah; the One who had created His slaves to know that He(Allaah) is their Lord except for the one that denies to submit to Him. We beseech His peace and blessings upon the Noble Prophet Muhammad(sollallaahu alayhi wasallam). Alhamdulillaah we were able to explain to us in our previous post on sujuud ssahw that: Sujuud ssahw is divided into three major aspects based on how they necessitate it(i.e sujuud ssahw) due to occurences which are all based on forgetfulness/Mistake. However; we must undrstand that sujuudu ssahw is not due from purposeful actions. For example; a person purposeful stood up after the rokaaat of solaat asr; So such person had done the act amdan(knowingly) and not nosyaan(forgetfully) and therefore his/her solaat becomes void and unacceptable as he/she desire to turn ibaadaat to playing/joking ground. Indeed Allaah alao warned in the Quran when he said: So the curse of Allaah be upon those who perform solaat(with neglectful mind). Those who when on solaat have their minds far away elese where(from their solaat). The next division we shall discuss is An-naqs. An-naqs: An-naqs means having removed something from the units of solaat either from arkaan or waajibaat. However; we must understand that An-naqs is again divided into two major aspects which are: 1. Sujuudu ssahw li-sababi nuqsooni min arkaani ssoolaat. (The Prostration of forgetfulness due from the removal from the pillars(fudamental parts) of the solaat: This aspect of an-naqs invalidates a persons solaat. So; if any of the arkaan of solaat is removed from a particular solaat; then such solaat is invalid and must be repeated if the rukn(pillar) is removed from the entirety of that solaat and if it is removed from a rokaa(unit) of solaat; then that rokaa must be repeated. An example of the first condition is if a person forgets to make the takbeeratul Ihraam and the he/she remembers after the solaat had been completed; then such solaat must be repeated. However; if the person remembers this forgetfulness of his in the second or third rokaa, then he/she must simply neglect the ones prayed before and start from the beginning. Another example is if a person forgets to recite suuratul faatiha in the first rokaa of a particular solaat; then the person remebers while performing the second rokaa; he/she should simply renumber that second rokaa as number one and continue from there till the end of such solaat. So, this aspect of an-naqs cannot be corrected with sujuud sahw but rather must be repeated when omitted. 2. Sujuudu Ssahw li-sababi nuqsooni min waajibaati ssolaat: (The prostration of forgetfulness due from removal of the necessary parts of solaat): This aspect of an-naqs does not nullify a unit or entire solaat. Rather it can be corrected with sujuud sahw when omitted. An example is forgetting to sit for tashahhud after the two rokaaat of a solaatul asr; it is recommended for such person not to return to the sitting position after his hands and knee had left the ground; such person should simply continue with that solaat and at the end of the solaat after tashahhud he should make two sajda(prostrations); sit back and make tasleem. So; this aspect of an-naqs can be corrected with two prostrations before tasleem(salama) called Qoblee; derived from the word Qobla salama meaning before salama. We shall continue from here regarding the last aspect of the causes of sujuudu ssahw bi-idhnillaahi taaalaa. I hope we did understood? Baarokallaahu feekum. And Allaahs fadl we seek after with our Ijtihaad.
