SUMA reiterates demands ITANAGAR, Oct 5: Reiterating its demands, Students Union Movement of Arunachal Pradesh (SUMA) today vowed to never back off from its charter of demands, rather stated that it would intensify its movement to fulfill the demands. The decision came after its central executive meeting held under the chairmanship of Unti Umbrey General Secretary SUMA here today. The SUMA’s four-points charter of demands are immediate cancellation of Joint High power Committee (JHPC) for issuance of PRC to Non-APST residing in the state, abolition of minority scheme from the state, complete ban on formation of Naga People Front in Arunachal Pradesh and stop shielding Chakma Hajong refugees and All Arunachal Pradesh Chakma Students Union. Opposing the implementation of minority scheme in the state, SUMA stated that such scheme is not applicable for Arunachal Pradesh since the state is purely tribal state. It also said that implementation of such centrally sponsored scheme would reduce the privilege given to state under Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act 1873. It also strongly opposed Naga People Front entry in the state political map, and claimed that act of NPF is to disintegrate the state. The union cautioned that any attempt to grant citizenship to Non-APST would not be entertained by the indigenous people, rather expedite for their deportation. SUMA further expressed discontentment over the alleged lukewarm response by the state government on its charter of demands and urged the government for early re-addressal.
