SUMMARY OF SUNDAY MESSAGE (23/03/2014) The Jews drank water from the rock in the first reading (Ex. 17:3-7) but Christ offers us the Water of eternal life in the Gospel (John 4:5-26), the water of eternal life that St Paul in the second reading describes as the Holy Spirit poured into our hearts (Rom. 5:5). Like the Samaritan woman at the well with Christ, it is only in the presence of God (especially before the Blessed Sacrament) that we too can get the true picture of ourselves, face the truth, especially about ourselves, and make the necessary amends. And like her town`s people ( John 4:39-42), we equally need to go beyond the ``Faith of our fathers`` (who introduced us to Christ by their testimony) to developing a personal faith in Christ and his Church.
