SUMMARY...(PART 3) With regard to the DEFINITION AND PURPOSE of social media, there is a convergence that it’s all about communication, especially bridging family and social relationships. One participant, for instance, said: It is an innovative tool as a means of communicating with other people regardless of race, place and time. It is the end of result of the advances in technology that we are privileged to enjoy these days. With that said, as tool, anyone can choose the most suitable application for specific needs of a person—it makes life easier and communication is free flowing as well as cost effective. Another participant also made the following remarks, which also echo a positive tone: Social Media is really helpful for us especially abroad...it can help us to hav a faster access to our family and friends back home..it can ease homesickness and boredom...in a way it also gives us more info about what is the new trend in our society so it will not in a way make us behind of others...
