SUMMER SAFETY PART 1. One of the most common emergencies during the summer is heat exhaustion, which can lead to a fatal heat stroke. Knowing the signs is the sure way of keeping your pet safe. According to Dr. Avis, “The common signs of heat exhaustion are can be excessive panting, your pet becoming less interested in playing, muscle twitches, not wanting water because they feel nauseous, possible vomiting, and your pet’s skin can feel cooler to the touch instead of warmer. If you are seeing these signs you can mist your pet with a fan blowing on them and remove them from outside or the direct sunlight. Heat stroke is deadly, your pet will have more severe signs, and possibly becoming non-responsive and like a limp noodle.
