SUPERVISOR DAWNAFE WHITESINGER, COUNTY MANAGER JAMES JAYNE PARTICIPATE IN AZ TOWN HALL Navajo County officials participated in an Arizona Town Hall event that was held in Show Low today to raise awareness and solicit input from members of the public and business community on several serious issues related to Arizonas Vulnerable Populations. County Manager James Jayne acted as a group moderator to help synthesize the information provided by participants, and Navajo County District 5 Supervisor Dawnafe Whitesinger gave a brief synopsis of another Town Hall meeting that was held in Tucson, AZ, but devoted to the same topic. Those in attendance were provided with a background report that summarized a number of issues related to vulnerable populations, and they were given the opportunity to provide feedback and generated new ideas. The background report which was prepared by the Morrison Institute at Arizona State University on “Arizona’s Vulnerable Populations” addressed unseen vulnerability in six critical areas: education, employment, finances, health, family dynamics, and access to resources. Across all of these issues the primary objective was to identify system barriers and explore responses to those barriers that have potential to increase individual and community resilience. The report examined both governmental and non-governmental responses and looked beyond service delivery to structural changes and public policy options. This approach enabled Arizona Town Hall participants to determine solutions and action steps that will build resiliency. County Attorney Brad Carlyon, Judge Michayla Ruechel, Finance Director James Menlove, Account Manager Paige Peterson, Planning and Zoning Director Trent Larson, Government Affairs Director Hunter Moore and Community Nutrition Worker Lupita Banuelos were also in attendance at the meeting.
