SUPPORT CAN LOOK LIKE THIS pt. 9 Simone Christoph and Kay McClune have donated hundreds of hours helping to socialize, train, calm and redirect the behavior of broken-hearted dogs abandoned to municipal facilities by the humans they loved. Both amazing women have given new direction, focus and healing to our dogs, most of whom are left to die simply due to the lack of simple training. Today, Simone Christoph came to provide eye-opening advanced training as part of our staff meeting, and it was TERRIFIC. Using Melissa Samantha (named for 2 employees at Eagle Ranch Pistachios who donated to help pay for this beautiful dogs care) as her demo doggy, Simone showed AVNM staffers how to encourage calm quiet behavior BEFORE opening the kennel door, and redirect and begin to drain the pent-up energy without even opening the door. Special ways to redirect focus from other dogs to the human in charge were generously taught by Simone, and beautiful Kelpie blend Melissa Samantha GLORIED in the training and loving attention by Simone- who then shared the techniques with one of our loyal dog-walkers, Dolores Killeen Gallegos! Melissa, a stylish, loving and super smart dog, is behaving like a different dog already, and now sits quietly in her kennel- with just a look from the human in the other side wanting to walk her!
