SUPPORT THE JORDAN TRAFFIC INSTITUTE/PUBLIC SECURITY DIRECTORATE IN TRAFFIC SAFETY MANAGEMENT In the framework of a European Union funded Twinning Project focused on Road Safety improvement in Jordan, two assistants are recruited for the duration of project which should not exceed 15 months, on a full time basis. The project purpose is to enhance the capacity of the Jordan Traffic Institute (JTI)/Public Security Directorate (PSD) to manage, coordinate and address traffic safety issues in Jordan. The Jordan Traffic Institute is located in a place at 15km east of Queen Alia Airport and each assistant is supposed to reach the workplace (JTI) by his/her own mean (no public transport is available). Under the responsibility of the Resident Twinning Advisor - RTA - (European permanent coordinator of the Twinning Project), and in the framework of a service contract, the assistant will help the RTA and the Short Term Experts - STE - in their tasks. The STE come from France, Sweden or Austria and the official project language is English. But to improve the sustainability of the Twinning Project, the Arabic language will be one output language. The description of the two posts is as follows: 1)RTA Assistant The role of the assistant is to support the RTA in the project management by taking care of mission preparations and filing mission reports, time sheets and mission certificates. In addition the assistant will be responsible for organisation of meetings, seminars etc. and their logistics. The assistant will also act as translator/interpreter, when necessary. The assistant should have the following qualifications: University degree; Fluent language skills in Arabic and in English (French, German or Swedish is an asset); Practical experiences in managing EU projects; Experience in translation and interpretation; Fully computer literacy. Her/his tasks will be: Act as a principal assistant to the RTA; Provide administrative support to the RTA during implementation of the twinning project; Assist the RTA in reporting obligations, preparation of presentations, networking; Organise appointments for the RTA; Organise meetings, prepare meeting agenda and take minutes; Develop and manage a systematic filing system of all incoming and outgoing documentation/correspondence; Receive all incoming and outgoing telephone calls and connect them through if required; Handle travel arrangements for the RTA and if required for the STE>s as well; Take faxing and photocopying activities; Provide translation and editing services to the Twinning project in general; Provide interpretation services to the Twinning project in general; Any other duties and ad-hoc support assigned by the RTA. 1)Full-time language assistant A full-time translator/interpreter will be involved in all necessary project activities (training sessions, translation of project documents/reports and materials, organisational activities, etc). The role of the translator/interpreter will be to provide translation as well as interpretation. The translator/interpreter should have the following qualifications: University degree in Arabic and English (French, German or Swedish is an asset); Experience in translation and interpretation; Full computer literacy. Her/his tasks will be: Provide translation and editing services to the Twinning project in general; Provide interpretation services to the Twinning project in general; Provide logistical and administrative support when it comes to organising training sessions, workshops, seminars, conferences and SC meetings; Any other duties and ad-hoc support assigned by the RTA.
