SURE -P in Eket is a fraud , lament residents Youths and women in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State said they have neither felt nor seen the effect of Subsidy Re -investment and Empowerment Programme ( SURE - P ) in the area. The indigenes, numbering over 2 ,000 and converged at Eket Council Hall on Monday during an evaluation process organised by Uzoamala Amah- Mbah , Consultant of SURE -P in Abuja , lamented that the effect of SURE - P is never felt in Eket and its environs , as no beneficiary of the programme could be identified. Jack Etteh, a resident of Eket , commended the Federal Government for the initiative but alleged that SURE -P in Eket was a “fraud ’’, as the people were not feeling the impact of the programme , noting that , “ Eket Council is a major player in Nigeria ’s economy. “ Please tell President Goodluck Jonathan that Eket people are not feeling the impact of Sure - P and Eket people are not carried along in the programme ,’’ he said . Another resident of Eket , Charles Etukudoh , expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for introducing SURE - P but said Eket people are not aware of the programme . “ We have 11 wards in Eket Local Government Area ; we are not aware of the beneficiaries of SURE - P in any of the wards . If something has to be shared in Eket , it should be shared among the 11 wards in Eket and all the wards should benefit from it, ’’ he said . According to him, SURE - P programme has been abused in Eket Local Government Area . He , therefore, challenged SURE - P organisers to make public the names of beneficiaries of the programme in Eket to enable the people know how many are benefitting from each ward in the council .
