SURVIVAL RACE 2014 - For anyone looking for something exciting to take part in this weekend ... the great Survival Race is into its 6th year and promises to be a lot of fun! The “Survival Race” is two-day adventure race that is held within the wild nature of Serbia. It provides participants the opportunity to compete in rough and wild terrain… with the use of minimal equipment. The main goal of the race is to cross a 70km (or 30km) long trail on foot, competing in teams consisting of two to four members. This may not seem so difficult, but the only equipment participants are permitted to use is the clothing they have on themselves, a knife, a map of the terrain and a compass, a fire steel and half a litre of water. No food or additional water is allowed. Crossing through forests, gorges, streams and hills, participants are faced with different kind of difficult situations. In these conditions they need to make shelter and fire, find food in nature. All these activities are graded and points summarized for the final winner of the race. Anyone who considers themselves to be mentally and physically able is permitted to take part in the race. It has an international character, and is organized each year in a different part of Serbia and attracts more than 200 participants from around the Balkan countries. The destination in Serbia where the race will be held this year will be published 5 days before the event, on Monday, 9/29/2014. The start of the race is located 250km from Belgrade. The Survival Race is organized into four categories: Extreme, Adventure, Family and Survival Media. ADVENTURE category - for all adventurers and nature lovers with no special experience in survival skills. This is an opportunity to enjoy and explore inaccessible parts of Serbia, the escape of a known and steady life in the city. Through a series of interesting tasks, the contestants go through pristine nature areas where they seek for food and make a shelter. The path is up to 35km and rules and permitted equipment are similar as for the Survival category, only time needed for passing trail is not measured. By participating in the race within the Adventure athletes are introduced and prepared for survival category. In the SURVIVAL category trail of 60km + represents a challenge for the bravest. If you want to test yourself and your ability to see what youre made of, get ready for one of the toughest races in the Balkans! In the FAMILY category parents with their children will be able to participate in a real adventure intended for children ages 7 + years. Since children are participating, rules are changed and adapted to that age, path is limited to 10km. Equipment allowed to be used: camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, pad and other camping equipment), maps, fire steel for lighting fire, compass, food and water. NEW IN 2014! Since 2014 we are introducing a new, SURVIVAL MEDIA category. We invite all interested persons who are employed in the media to come and actually participate in the Survival race. This category is specially made for the media (TV stations, radio stations, daily newspapers, weekly/monthly magazines, Internet portals ...). Participants who are employed in the media do not pay the registration fee (up to 2 participants, if the number of participants> 2, the other participants pay the full amount of the registration fee), the name of the team must include the name of the media (for example - Blic), an official confirmation from official media e-mail is needed. The trail in this category is slightly smaller than the trail in adventure category. Scores are all special tasks.
