[SWIM 9/14/2013] Judges 6:33-40 – Fleece and Dew Posted on September 13, 2013 by justinryu newcreationunited.wordpress/ When the Spirit of God came upon Gideon, he became different. The spirit of God is the key of judges’ leadership. Judges are charismatic leaders and they are supposed to perform a war to save the people. The problem is if the people would respond and follow him or her (under the system that there was neither a leader nor a king). The people would respond him or her calling only when they see the LORD will be with them. So, the Spirit of God is the most important element to a judge to be a leader (we will see later that Samson and other judges also became the leaders when the Spirit of God). We cannot be a Christian leader nor can do any God’s ministry without the Holy Spirit. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can do what seemed impossible before. Even after previous signs, Gideon still needed more reassurance of the LORD’s presence. Defeating the enemy looked so impossible. We also have many things like that in our life and ministry. God’s presence does not guarantee good situation or circumstance. God’s presence guarantees only the victory beyond the impossible situation. If we see only situation and circumstance, we cannot see what God will do. “Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” (Hebrew 11:1). If you do not have faith, ask God to give you. If necessary, ask God to show sign. But do not test God too much. Gideon did twice and at the second time, he said, “Let me make just one more request.” Also, be sure that if God shows a sign, then you do not have any more excuse not to do God’s work.
